- Tertiary qualified (preferably engineering or telecommunications)
- Broad knowledge and experience (about 2-5 years) in one or more telecommunications environments such as switching, transmission, network management, radio systems, customer premises equipment
- Undertake strategic planning and network design
- Possess project management skills
- Liaise with senior level management in large commercial and government organisations
- Pro-active in approach to work and the telecommunications profession
- Produce high quality results
- Work independently, but also in a team environment
- Ability to build client relationships
- Possess strong communication skills

Telecommunications Engineers External Plant/Optical Fibre

Gibson Quai – AAS is the largest independent national telecommunications consulting company in Australian. The company provides a range of industry leading strategic, market research, engineering and project execution consulting services. The company has 60 consultants working from offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
GQ-AAS is experiencing substantial growth as a result of our client focus, ethical approach and quality of our professional services. GQ-AAS is expanding our capability to support leading edge industry development such as the National Broadband Network (NBN) project.
GQ-AAS is now seeking exceptional telecommunications external plant engineers to fill new roles at senior consultant/principal consultant level. The location of these full time roles is flexible but ideally the roles would be located in Melbourne, Canberra and/or Sydney.
The successful candidates will work as part of a consulting team to provide high-level strategic business advice, technical consulting and leadership in the areas of.
- Aerial and underground telecommunications cable plant planning, design, construction and operations
- Fibre to the Home (FTTH) technologies, systems, network architectures and installation best practices
- Use of shared infrastructure such as trenches, manholes, pits, ducts, cables and poles
- Estimation and modeling of capital and operating costs
- Valuation of external plant networks
The successful candidates are expected to have tertiary qualification(s) and a minimum of 10 to 15 years relevant telecommunications industry experience in the planning, design, construction and/or operation of telecommunications cable networks.
A key requirement of the positions is a business focus and the ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing technical information in a business context.
